Dermatitis, commonly known as eczema, is a very common phenomenon in children. It is a type of bacterial skin infection that might get traumatic for the little ones. Acute irritation and reddening of skin are the common symptoms of eczema in children. Physicians say that children having a history of asthma, hay fever or allergies in their family are more prone to eczema. Immediate consultation with a medical practitioner is recommended for children suffering from eczema.
Primarily two types of eczema attack the children. Atopic and contact eczema are very common in the children. Atopic eczema is common in new born babies. This kind of eczema occurs right after the birth. Most of the children grow out of it by adulthood. But some of them may continue suffering from it throughout their lives. Medical science says that children with a family history of atopic eczema are more sensitive towards contact eczema.
Contact eczema is common in older children. This takes place due to contact with chemicals, and irritants like soaps, detergents, powders or colognes. It is easier to check contact eczema in children. Avoiding the irritants checks the spread and recurrence of eczema attacks in children. Xerotic eczema is also very common in little children and newborn babies. Absence of biotin in the skin causes Xerotic eczema in the kids. Eczema in children sometimes occurs due to dust or other external agents.
Causes of eczema in the little kids are very similar to that of the older people. Eczema might be hereditary or caused due to lack of immunity or bacterial infection. The symptoms of eczema in children are very prominent. Skin rashes, red skin, pricking sensation, blisters, peeling, layering and discoloration are some of the common symptoms of eczema in children. Children can have eczema on their face, knees, forearms, scalp and cheeks. Immediate medication is required for children suffering from eczema.
The amount of pain is similar for both children and adults suffering from eczema. Elder people can at least bear the pain but it becomes unbearable for children, especially infants. Both oral medication and ointments, creams or lotions are prescribed to treat children suffering from eczema. There is nothing to be scared of with eczema in children. Doctors give a variety of antibiotics and oral drugs for reducing the severity of the disease. Children must be stopped from scratching the affected areas, Cotton clothing and use of gloves must be encouraged in the little ones affected by the disease. http://www.squidoo.com/get-rid-of-eczema“eczema in children
