Question by Laura D: Best treatment for “under the skin” acne?
Please don’t bother answering if you don’t have experience with “under the skin” acne or even know what I mean by that!
The little skin colored bumps that almost look like a rash all over cheeks, forehead, sometimes chest. If you have had this, have you found a good treatment for it, (preferably not meds) some sort of skin care system that has worked to eliminate these acne bumps?
Thanks!

For under the skin acne, you may need to use an oral medication. The acne is embedded in your skin because of the internal bacteria that topical acne medications cannot (alone) target. An oral medication (tetracycline or doxycycline – your dermatologist would choose based on your body type and medical history) would kill that bacteria completely. Oral medications (antibiotics) would take roughly 2 months to begin working and would still need to be used with a good topical cleanser, medication and moisturizer to clear out the surface bacteria.
